Strategy for Managing Stress
I have heard everywhere, in shopping malls and sports training sites, that these are challenging political and economic times that deeply concern parents. People are anxious about job stability and affording daily meals - particularly due to rising food prices - and are worried about being able to pay for their children’s sports programs.
At the same time, children and teens feel anxiety regarding their academic achievements, while young athletes are concerned about having enough nutritious food to support their daily sports activities and the travel costs for competitions.
As a result, stress levels are rising for various reasons. Stress is sneaky; it can intensify until it becomes unmanageable. Sometimes, it manifests as physical symptoms like temporary hives, one-day headaches, nausea, or long-term weight gain. What can be done? Stretching, using essential oils, scanning the body for muscle tension, and foam rolling are just a few methods to relieve stress – all achievable in under 30 minutes.
Calming Stress in 5- 10 Minutes or Less
One way to manage stress is to reset the body and mind. Check out these quick de-stressing tips:
Fake a laugh or smile
Correct your posture
Mute all phone and social app notifications
Give someone a hug (or yourself!)
Play uplifting music
Implement Progressive Relaxation (head to toe)
Perform selected Yoga exercises
Perform “Deep Breathing” exercises (Breath in – Hold – Breath out: 8-in – 7 Hold – 8 out)
