Tip Of The Week - November Recap

Coach Monika says…

Week 1: Music Effect on Performance and Training Athletes are often very closely matched in ability. Music has the potential to elicit a small but significant effect on performance, according to researchers… although research points out that ‘classical’ music is calming while other types may create more arousal.

Week 2: Scientific inquiry has revealed five key ways in which music can influence preparation and competitive performances: dissociation, arousal regulation, synchronization, acquisition of motor skills, and attainment of flow.

Week 3: Do you have a purpose? Having a sense of purpose may add years to your life, regardless of what the purpose is, research suggests. In addition to training and competing, athletes should also focus on factors that enhance their wellbeing in the present and the future.

Week 4: Snack Ideas 3-4 Hours before Training – Key Points:

  •  Whole food carbohydrates

  •  Moderate Protein

  • Serving of healthy fat

  • Nutrient dense foods
