Favourite Quotes That “Keep Me alive”

Present times are not too encouraging. It takes a lot of fortitude to ‘scramble’ through the daily news, national and international politics, and the spreading woke culture. One has to be fairly well-read and educated to assess the daily events and keep cool. I have been reflecting for some time on my personal success, accomplishments, and trials and tribulations in my academic and coaching career spanning many decades.

Here are some of my favourite quotes from philosophers, writers, scientists and other famous people I have imported into my life.

The quotes are presented in their original language to preserve their meaning.

Robert Frost

…Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less travelled by, which has made all the difference…

Albert Einstein

…A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new…

…Logic will get you from A to Z, imagination will get you everywhere…

…Try not to become a man of success but rather try to become a man of value…

…Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe…

…If you can't explain it to a six-year-old, you don't understand it yourself…

…Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results…

About Teaching/Coaching:

…A Teacher affects eternity. He can never tell where his influence stops (American Historian Henry Adams)

…Don't just leave your footprints in the sand only to be washed away as the ocean waves come crashing to the shore (Anonymous)

…Athletes use their experience to cause social change through education and positive action in their community – not through protests in sports (Schloder, 2021)

Hopefully, these are mine forever in the lives of those I was privileged to teach and coach.
